South African Writers’ Circle meeting

CALLING ALL WRITERS OR THOSE INTERESTED IN WRITING:

The South African Writers’ Circle, a non-profit nationwide organization that exists solely for the benefit of writers, both published and beginner, invites you to attend a General Meeting on Saturday 15 June 2019 to be held in the meetings room below the Westville Library at 11 am.

Fiona Khan has been invited to be the Guest Speaker.

Fiona is an internationally published and award-winning poet, author, leader and academic. She is also the founder of the Global Forum 4 Literacy and the Traveling Books Project. Fiona has numerous accolades for her writing and for social entrepreneurship. Her passion lies in the upliftment of communities, building leadership portfolios and leaders and transforming children with learning challenges into successful scholars of basic and tertiary education. As a global trendsetter, she is a keen environmentalist and has won numerous awards for her efforts. The Global Forum 4 Literacy has now become a project of the Creative Cities Network with UNESCO and sets the trend in South Africa and Internationally for mobile and digital downloads globally. Apart from the Creative Arts, she is a keen scientist and loves astronomy and technology. Fiona has been in the writing and education field for the past 29 years and she has 20 titles to her credit. Her present project is the Master’s dissertation on transforming teacher pedagogy and methodology globally, by creating a new program and module for tertiary institutions.

Fiona’s topic is:

“THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (4IR) IN THE WRITING REVOLUTION”

The presentation will explore the transcendence in our writing, the popularity of genres in the future, the change in how we perceive and conceive writing using technology and the future of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and the Internet of Things in the world of writing.

After the talk by Fiona Khan, members and non-members will enjoy an alfresco lunch in the garden alongside the meetings room.

After lunch a workshop on ‘Moral Dilemma’ to be presented by Charles Poole will be held for no longer than an hour.

Admission fees are:  SAWC Members – R10 Non-members – R20
