Internship Programme 2007
NB Publishers is offering people with a serious interest in the business of book publishing an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the industry through participation in our internship programme. The programme takes place once a year, normally from May to December. Placements may be made in the following editorial departments: fiction books, non-fiction, children & youth, reference books and educational, and also in the production and marketing departments.
We endeavour to place interns in their area of interest, so please take time to consider which department is aligned with your interests in book publishing.
Requirements
- A two-page application consisting of a short CV (max. one page) and a motivation specifying why you would like to work in publishing, and stating your department preference for completion of the internship.
- Candidates applying for an internship in an editorial department should have, or be completing, a BA or postgraduate degree (publishing, journalism, languages or any related field).
- Good communication and organisational skills, and computer literacy will be a requirement in any department.
- Please state where you heard about the internship programme.
We offer
- Exposure to the various facets of book publishing for eight to twelve months, and in particular to the dynamics of the department in which internship is completed.
- An opportunity to meet people in the publishing industry.
- A token stipend for the duration of the internship.
Interns will be placed at our head office in Cape Town, although limited positions may be made available in the Pretoria branch.
The closing date for the next programme (beginning in May) is 15 April 2007. Applications may be sent in from 1 March 2007.
