KZN Literary Tourism mourns the loss of South African literary icon, Chris van Wyk. He is well-known for his anti-Apartheid poem, In Detention, which mocks the ridiculous excuses provided for the death of political prisoners in detention. His worked has remained popular. This year students of English Home Language studied In Detention as a prescribed poem while English First Additional Language students would be familiar with the short story, Relatives.
Tributes and remembrances have poured out across the country and internationally with articles from the Sunday Times, Books Live, Sunday World, AllAfrica, and the Guardian all paying their respects to the acclaimed writer.
