Something new and interesting from Durban – comic book literature!
Gofu is a short black and white fantasy comic book, rendered in fine detail and beautifully printed in a large, European comic book format.
The comic book introduces the tiny creature, Tatsu, who lives in a wooden house which is strapped to the chest of her giant best friend, Gofu. Together, they must fight off poachers who hunt the gofu and flee in search of a new, safe home.
As Deon de Lange’s first self published comic, Gofu, was launched at Open Book Comics Fest 2013 which was part of the Open Book Festival in Cape Town.
Gofu did very well at Open Book Comics Fest 2013, and makes a welcome addition to a fast growing and diverse South African comic creators community.
The comic book is available for purchase directly from the artist website www.jumpsuitart.com. Alternatively Gofu is also for sale from Readers Den Comic Shop in Claremont and Blank Books in Woodstock.
Gofu is the first issue in an ongoing serial comic book publication.
