It is a well-worn cliché and very few really earn it, but Cato Manor-born cultural activist, playwright, director, author and poet ,Ronnie Govender, is a "living treasure".
Approaching his 75th birthday, Govender wants to ensure that no one writes him off as that other gathering-dust cliché, "an iconic legend".
His birthday will be celebrated publicly, at the Playhouse Drama, on the opening night of his new production, Thunsil.
Thunsil (Tamil for mischief-maker), which is presented in association with The Playhouse Company, mixes Govender's "literary journey" with excerpts from some of his popular works.
