The Rider Haggard Society was formed in 1987 amongst a few fans of Rider Haggard’s stories and has grown to encompass members from as far as the United States, South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka.
Four times a year a Journal is issued which looks at a major title as well as including recent publications and items of news.
About every 18 months a general meeting is held where members meet to buy and sell books, chat, listen to some short talks, and generally have a good time. Meetings have been predominantly in the Norfolk and Suffolk areas near Ditchingham and Kessingland, but also in the North West, Milton Keynes, Garsington and Burwash. These have all been well attended, informal and great fun.
The Society contains members from all walks of life and covers a wide age-span: the key features are, of course, an interest in Haggard and his works but above all a tone of friendliness.
